Aircurve 11 ASV PaceWave

Adapts to your breathing needs for comfortable treatment of central sleep apnea

  • The ASV PaceWave algorithm monitors your breathing while you sleep and continuously adjusts the therapy pressure to provide the support you need at that moment.
  • Continuous leak management provides reliable therapy pressure to help you feel confident during your treatment.
  • Climate Control includes the optional HumidAir™ humidifier and the optional ClimateLineAir™ heated breathing circuit. It is designed to provide a constant and comfortable temperature and humidity.

What does ASV (English) mean in French?

Adaptive Servo-Ventilation (ASV)

. In other words, it's a more advanced type of CPAP machine that measures your breathing patterns while you sleep, then adjusts the pressure it delivers to stabilize your breathing throughout the night.

How does the machine work?

A servo-ventilation (SV) machine is a specialized type of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine coupled with a breath-assist device, used to treat sleep-disordered breathing. SV machines are particularly suitable for people with central sleep apnea (CSA), a type of sleep apnea that occurs when the brain stops sending signals to the muscles that control breathing during sleep. Less common than obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which occurs when the airways are blocked during sleep, these disorders also cause breathing problems. AAV devices work by measuring your breathing patterns during sleep and adjusting the air pressure accordingly to stabilize your breathing.

What are the differences between the Aircurve 11 ASV PaceWave and bilevel positive airway devices?

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) devices primarily treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) by helping to keep the airways open during sleep with a steady, constant flow of pressurized air.
Bilevel positive airway devices deliver air at two different pressures: one for inhalation and one for exhalation.
AV devices deliver air at different pressures, but they can do more: they provide a rescue breathing rate, which helps maintain breathing during episodes of central apnea. This rescue breathing rate is personalized based on continuous monitoring of the patient's breathing patterns.

What are the benefits of an Aircurve 11 ASV device?

If you have a more complex sleep-disordered breathing condition, you may need more than conventional CPAP devices can provide. In this case, your healthcare professional may decide that an AAV device can provide the right treatment for you. Please note that this type of treatment should only be initiated under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Is the treatment suitable for everyone?

AV therapy is contraindicated for certain groups of people*, meaning it is not suitable for everyone – these contraindications are detailed in the user guide. If you wish to start or switch to VAA treatment, speak to your GP or healthcare provider first.
